Last week I did a post about how to keep a well-stocked pantry, but it really covered all the kitchen bases, including fridge and freezer. I really can’t even explain how much of a lifesaver it is to always have something to make for a snack or dinner. It’s especially important when those pregnancy hunger pangs hit, because those suckers come hard and fast. When my last one hit yesterday, I really wanted something fresh. Grocery shopping was long overdue, so I pulled out some flash frozen fruit and the blender and made something yummy happen.
This is kind of a go-to when we are out of fresh fruit. Just two cups of frozen fruit in whatever combination I feel like, and 1/2-3/4 cup water to make it all come together nicely. If I have to push the fruit down every few seconds while I’m blending, it needs more liquid. You could always use apple or orange juice if you happen to have some. I usually don’t need to add any sweetness, but in those rare cases, a little honey does the trick.
If you haven’t done it already, get stocked up on some frozen fruit (remember, you can freeze your own!) and always be ready to bust out a healthy 5-minute snack. Cheers!
